Sometimes, it isn't enough to have the latest sleek piece of gadgetry in your pocket, with its burnished aluminium casing and beautifully made accessories. No.

Sometimes, these things also need to be bright yellow and adorned with a picture of a cute electric fuzz-monster.

Thankfully, European 3DS fans will soon have access to such a wondrous device, with the announcement of  two limited edition models.

The Pikachu Yellow special edition 3DS XL will be released around the continent on December 7th, and Nintendo is also releasing a limited edition 3DS XL White model for those who prefer their tech to be a little more understated.

The White edition comes in two packages: one pre-installed with Mario Kart 7 and the other with Super Mario 3D Land, to be released on November 16th and 30th respectively.

The Pikachu version doesn't come with any games, but just look at how marvellously yellow it is. It has Pikachu on it, for crying out loud. Does it really need any extra goodies?

Europe has missed out on limited edition 3DS's before, including a Charizard model that never made it out of Japan, but Pikachu Yellow is probably the best of the bunch. Why people think that silver, metallic grey and black are the best colours for their gizmos is beyond me.
