During today's Nintendo Direct presentation, it became clear that Nintendo is (finally) embracing the digital download model of game distribution.

But - ever old fashioned - Nintendo made sure that it didn't neglect its hardware during the event.

Nintendo announced that the special, limited edition Pikachu 3DS XL will come to Europe in "limited quantities" to celebrate the launch of Pokemon Black & White 2.

It wasn't made clear exactly how limited these quantities would be, but considering how quickly the Pikachu 3DS LL sold out in Japan these handhelds probably won’t stay on the shelves for long.

Did someone say a bundle?

In addition to the Pikachu 3DS XL, Nintendo also announced a special limited edition Mario Kart 7 3DS XL bundle launching on November 16th.

The bundle includes a special White 3DS XL that comes with the Pocket Gamer Gold-award winning Mario Kart 7 pre-installed as a digital download.

Nintendo did not disclose pricing on the Pikachu 3DS XL or Mario Kart 7 bundle, nor did it mention if it plans to bring either to North America.
