Nintendo announces a New Super Mario Bros. 2 and 2DS White/Red hardware bundle for retail on July 4th
Summer lovin'
Nintendo has announced a new 2DS hardware bundle will be available at retail on July 4th.
The bundle includes a Nintendo 2DS White/Red and a copy of the Silver Award-winning New Super Mario Bros. 2 Special Edition (that comes pre-installed on a 4GB memory card).
The Special Edition version of the game contains the Coin Rush mode. That translates to 30 extra challenges based around collecting gold under a time limit.
Unfortunately, Nintendo hasn't yet confirmed a price for this upcoming bundle. Rest assured, though: if we hear of one, we'll let you know about it immediately.
If you didn't know, the 2DS is an "entry-level" version of Nintendo's 3DS that only plays games in 2D (not 3D). Its fixed slate design is also sturdier than the 3DS's. Other than that, it retains all the features of the 3DS.
In our review of New Super Mario Bros. 2, we said that the "new levels and new abilities will keep fans pleased, but there's little in the way of creative spark to be found here."
Still, it's an ample sequel worthy of the franchise. So, if you need to keep the kids occupied while you sunbathe this summer, this bundle may be just the ticket.
