Two new racers from Nintendo’s back-catalogue revealed for Mario Kart 7

It would seem that the forthcoming 3DS instalment in the venerable Mario Kart series, Mario Kart 7, will feature some of the slightly lesser known characters from Nintendo’s history.

Lakitu and Metal Mario were announced as playable characters last month, and now Nintendo Power has the news that Wiggler and Honey Queen will be on Mario Kart 7’s racing grid when the game launches this December.

First introduced in Super Mario World, the Wiggler is a caterpillar-like creature that has made appearances in various Mario and Mario Kart games over the years, though always as an enemy or obstacle to avoid rather than as a playable character.

Honey Queen, or Queen Bee, has so far only appeared in the two Super Mario Galaxy games, and is a great big bee, in case you were wondering.
