Nintendo is clearly taking the lessons learnt from the release of Mario Kart Wii and applying them to the launch of the company's upcoming 3DS version, Mario Kart 7.

Not only is Mario Kart 7 going to receive its own special channel on the 3DS main menu, but it is also getting a Nintendo-licensed steering wheel that'll wrap around your handheld console.

This third-party peripheral, designed by Japanese hardware company Hori, is due to be released in Japan on the same day as Mario Kart 7, so we may well see it released around the same time in Europe and the US, too.

Of course, if you're planning to use it, you may have to turn the stereoscopic 3D off for the duration of play - your eyes will thank you for it.
