Nintendo declares 19th May Kid Icarus: Uprising Multiplayer Battle Day

Since launching on 23rd March, Kid Icarus: Uprising has attracted legions of fans with its frenetic gameplay and competitive, action-packed multiplayer modes.

In response to the strong fan reception of the multiplayer module, Nintendo has declared Saturday 19th May Multiplayer Battle Day and is hosting a nationwide contest to see who can create the biggest tournaments.

Come one, come all

To accomplish this feat, Nintendo has created a Multiplayer Battle Day Meetup Everywhere community which players can use to create their own ad hoc Kid Icarus: Uprising tournaments.

Players can compete via Nearby or Far Away connections, allowing them to access tournaments either through a wifi connection or through local wireless play between handhelds at local meet-ups.

Multiplayer in Kid Icarus: Uprising is split between two distinct gameplay modes: three-on-three Light Versus Dark modes and six-player Free-For All.

Both multiplayer modes are eligible for Multiplayer Battle Day tournament gameplay.

Flying high

The 20 tournaments that attract the most players will earn recognition and prizes including packs of Augmented Reality Cards or t-shirts.

Kid Icarus: Uprising is the first Nintendo 3DS feature to capitalise on the handheld’s multiplayer capability.

Organised tournaments for the game have seen great success in both the United States and Europe.

You can find out more from the Nintendo Meetups page and official Kid Icarus site.
