It's all about pricing

Harvest Moon creator's Hometown Story is coming to iOS but with IAPs and less content

When we last heard about Hometown Story, we were told it was coming to mobile platforms, as well the 3DS. Now we know it's coming to iOS, and that not all of the content will make the transfer.

Hometown Story is the upcoming game from Harvest Moon creator, Yasuhiro Wada, and he spoke to Silconera about the differences between the 3DS and mobile versions.

"The iOS version does not have episodes with other villagers, players just run a shop," Wada said.

"The core system of running the shop is the same on 3DS, but you will get to interact with the villagers and involved with their story," added Wada.

You may think this content was held back due to the technical limitations of iOS devices, but that's not the case.

Wada says the reasons for leaving out the character episodes in the iOS version is to make it a more compact experience.

He would also charge $29.99 for both versions if they had the same amount of content, which would be considered an extremely high price on the App Store.

"Eventually, there will be in-app purchases. There will be rare items and villagers, but no story episodes," Wada explained.

So if you want the full version of Hometown Story you'll have to purchase the 3DS version.
