New free and paid DLC heading to Fire Emblem: Awakening in the US this week

On Wednesday, Nintendo announced that Fire Emblem: Awakening would receive the first of four free SpotPass maps titled A Hard Miracle.

In the free paralogue chapter, Chrom and his allies encounter a mysterious woman and set off with her to rescue a group of kidnapped villagers.

Nintendo indicated that the map would be available on Wednesday, but given the schedule below, a release on Thursday (March 14) seems more likely.

Following A Hard Miracle, the SpotPass map schedule is as follows:

  • Ghost of Blade (March 28) A haunted tale about a ghost and the ultimate sacrifice.
  • The Wellspring of Trust (April 11) A map full of challenging enemies.
  • The Radiant Hero (April 25) Chrom and his allies search for a legendary hero
More battle for your buck

Nintendo also took to its 3DS Facebook Page to announce that the next paid DLC chapter Smash Brethren 1 will be available for download on Thursday, March 14.

This map sees Chrom caught up in a battle between the forces of Elibe and Tellius, and will allow players to recruit Elincia from Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance when completed.

Smash Brethren 1 costs $3.00, which is slightly more expensive than previous DLC maps, but can be purchased at a discount if you buy the three-part Lost Brethren collection for $6.50.

To access this new map when it's made available, simply head to the Outrealm Gate and select "Purchase Maps".
