If you're a fan of Dragon Quest, I've got some good news for you. Dragon Quest XI: Echoes of an Elusive Age is definitely coming to the West.

Granted, it's not coming out until 2018, but good things come to those who wait, right?

The release was announced in a video featuring series creator Yuji Horii. And a slime. There had to be a slime in there somewhere, right?

The game is about to hit stores in Japan on PS4 and 3DS, and there's a Switch version in the works as well. So hopefully both of our favourite Nintendo consoles will get the game when it lands next year.

This will be the first numbered game in the series to hit Western shores since Dragon Quest IX. Although since DQX was an MMO, I don't know if it even really counts.

Anyway, we've just got a vague "next year" release date at the moment, so we'll make sure to keep you updated when we get something a little more concrete.
