Nintendo Power confirms Castlevania: Lords of Shadow - Mirror of Fate for 3DS

With E3 just a few days away, it was likely Nintendo and/or Konami would have tipped their hand about the rumoured Castlevania title for the 3DS we reported on earlier.

Thankfully, Castlevania fans won’t have to wait that long as Nintendo Power has just confirmed Castlevania: Lords of Shadow - Mirror of Fate in its June 2012 issue.

GoNintendo is reporting that Spanish studio MercurySteam will be developing Mirror of Fate. MercurySteam is the same company responsible for Castlevania: Lords of Shadow for the PS3/X360.

Go forward, move ahead

While many of the details of Mirror of Fate remain uncertain, GoNintendo has provided a good idea of what gamers can expect from Castlevania’s first 3DS title.

The game will star Trevor Belmont, the erstwhile star of the 8-bit classic Castlevania III: Dracula’s Curse, who will fight with "…Trevor's version of the Combat Cross".

The Combat Cross is a reference to the whip used by Gabriel Belmont in Lords of Shadow.

The biggest question left unanswered is whether Mirror of Fate will be feature 2D or 3D (or perhaps 2.5D) planes for Trevor to move on. Fortunately, Konami is hosting a pre-E3 event on Friday, so more details about Mirror of Fate should surface then.

We will keep you updated with more news regarding this exciting 3DS title as we come across it.
