Knight Rider taught us how to drive on two wheels and jump over obstacles. Sadly, it didn't teach us how to parallel park or do a three-point turn, which was something of a wasted opportunity.

If only the youth of yesteryear had looked beyond the antics of television idols, the roads of the nation would now be a lot safer.

Nevertheless, Knight Rider fans may soon be rejoicing because 3D Racing Fever GT has nearly everything a would-be David Hasselhoff could dream of: jumps, boosts, twists, crashes and mid-air corkscrews. And as if that isn't enough, there's some good old fashioned racing thrown in, too.

There's certainly plenty to do, with a Career mode that will keep you busy, and quick-play style games that include a Crash Derby, Jump Challenge and the inviting-sounding 2-Wheeler Challenge.

These all sound as dangerous as they are but the fun factor is set pretty high, even if the challenges are tough enough to keep you coming back for more.

Controlling the car couldn't be easier given that there are only two buttons you need to press – left and right. Good thing, too, because you'll need all your concentration to get it to go where you want it – this is a big, heavy American car and it behaves accordingly. Imagine trying to steer with your elbows and you'll be close.

That said, while the awkward control doesn't overly detract from the enjoyment, it takes time to get used to, and it does make reaching the pick-ups and successfully negotiating jumps harder to achieve.

At least seeing where you're supposed to be going isn't an issue due to perfectly adequate 3D graphics; although they're functional, they aren't perhaps quite as smooth as they could be.

Ultimately, 3D Racing Fever GT should please those who prefer their racing games to swerve towards the fun rather than the serious end of the scale. With plenty of twists and turns and the odd daredevil stunt, they won't be disappointed. The emphasis on these elements does mean the actual racing is somewhat overshadowed, but this remains a solid game.
