100% Best of British

With all thy faults I love thee still

100% Best of British

Ah, being British. Is there anything finer? The drone of lawnmowers, the smack of leather on willow… hmm, come to think of it, that’s not the working class Britain I grew up in.

Okay, but you can’t beat British beef! Oh, wait, there was that whole foot and mouth thing. The car industry belongs to us though, doesn’t it? Jaguar, Land Rover, Lotus, TVR, right? Ah, perhaps not any more.

Okay then, what is British? Perhaps a sideways glance at our mobile gaming habits will reveal what our country is really about. We’ve got James Bond, of course – backed up by a golden pot of American money. Perhaps the bald, weird looking gay dude and his pretend gay friend from Little Britain better epitomises our once glittering shores than the suave secret agent?

Anne Robinson has turned out to be a pretty popular British export, and she’s still looking, ahem, younger than ever. And if it’s thoroughly British stars that now quantify our shrinking country, then we need look no further than the peak of British athleticism: darts. These stalwart sportsmen are loud, mostly inactive and very heavy drinkers. Sounds British to me.

Considering that we can even get pub games on our mobile phones now, it seems that thumb-based gaming exercises are profoundly British – a place where we compact our heritage and re-administer it in a far more convenient, and less exertive manner.

Yes. Pocket gaming is British, so let’s take a look at what it means to be 100% Best of British.

Except for Pocket Gamer France, of course. That's not especially British. Vive la difference!

Spanner Spencer
Spanner Spencer
Yes. Spanner's his real name, and he's already heard that joke you just thought of. Although Spanner's not very good, he's quite fast, and that seems to be enough to keep him in a regular supply of free games and away from the depressing world of real work.
