Bored of games? Try boardgames!

It’s almost the end of the year, so here at Pocket Gamer we’ve been allowed to bring in games! True enough, we’ve got loads of mobile games strewn about the place, but tradition dictates that we entertain each other with dice, counters, a game board and pretend money.

But for some reason we tend to flinch when our video games are placed within the ‘toy’ bracket. Perhaps we don’t like the childish connotations that come with the word toy, but really there’s no reason for us to balk at the concept.

The likes of Monopoly, Cluedo and Game of Life have provided the foundations for a great many adventure and strategy games, while Jenga, Uno and Pass the Pigs capture the essence of quick, physical games that translate so well to the mobile platform.

Toys are an intrinsic link to our past and a valuable learning tool. If it weren’t for a youthful fascination with toys, we’d probably never have developed our interest in video games, so we thought that Christmas was the perfect time to look at 100% Mobile Toys. It’s playtime!

Spanner Spencer
Spanner Spencer
Yes. Spanner's his real name, and he's already heard that joke you just thought of. Although Spanner's not very good, he's quite fast, and that seems to be enough to keep him in a regular supply of free games and away from the depressing world of real work.
