Professor Layton 3DS will be ‘suited to American tastes’

'Gee whizz, professor, that puzzle was totally gnarly'

Professor Layton 3DS will be ‘suited to American tastes’

In an interview with Joystiq, Level-5 president Akihiro Hino has revealed that the upcoming Professor Layton: The Mask of Miracle for the Nintendo 3DS will be designed with much more of a western focus than previous titles.

Hino expressed his surprise at the series’ incredible popularity outside Japan, and admitted that a number of puzzles in the original game had to be removed due to it being developed ‘without much consideration’ for gamers outside of the far east.

Ominously for all us Layton-loving Europeans (the territory with more sales of the last game than both Japan and the US put together) he went on to describe the next in the series as being designed to be ‘more suited to American tastes’ before dropping the bombshell: ‘Professor Layton's appearance is changing quite a bit’.

So get ready for an ass-kicking, streetwise Layton who packs a .45 and a mean set of quips (I presume) when Professor Layton: The Mask of Miracle arrives sometime in the next year.
