Pool Pro Online 3 to offer play across iPhone, Android, iPad and PC

I'm not usually the sort of person who gets excited about a mobile version of pool, even an online one where you can play head to head against other hustlers.

However, I'm going to make an exception for Namco's Pool Pro Online 3, which has just launched for iPhone.

Developed by the company's inhouse Order of Magnitude studio in San Jose, not only is it a great-looking game that extends the company's successful mobile franchise into shiny 3D but it's the first to use its UniteSDK.

This is important as it will enable iPhone players to play against their friends (and enemies) on Android phones, as well as those on PC and post-April 3rd iPad too. Eventually, Java and Brew phones will also be supported.

Online social features include live chat and challenges as well as global leaderboards, achievements, and support for Facebook.

On the table

As for the game itself, this contains 8 ball, 9 ball and snooker modes, as well as single-player, pass and play, and multiplayer modes (supporting Bluetooth, wi-fi, or online).

There are ten halls to play in, each of which has different lighting and effects, while you can use the in-game Scratch currency to customise your table felt and buy cues. You can even wager your Scratch against other players.

More details can be seen from the following trailer.
