Uncharted's Nathan Drake goes endless runner in PlayStation All-Stars spin-off for iOS and Android
Not available in the US, yet
Everybody's getting into endless runners these days, from Usain Bolt to... Uncharted's Nathan Drake?
You read that correctly: thanks to a sponsorship from Coca-Cola Zero, you can now play in a Temple Run-style endless runner as Nathan Drake in the new PlayStation All-Stars Island for iOS and Android.
The endless runner mini-game, dubbed Drake's Pursuit, is the first of four planned games aimed at bringing the cast of PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale to mobile.
While this means that All-Stars Island is Drake-only for the moment, inFamous' Cole MacGrath, Kat from Gravity Rush, and LittleBigPlanet's Sackboy will all get their own game zones on the island soon.
The crossover mobile app comes a few weeks after Sony announced that it had "no plans to release new content for PlayStation AllStars" - effectively killing the possibility of future DLC characters or stages for the Bronze Award-winner.
In our testing, Drake's Pursuit got off to a rocky start when the intrepid explorer wound up stuck underneath of a log during a botched diveroll, but after a restart it performed much better. It's also free, and the music definitely puts you in an Uncharted mood, so it might be worth picking up if you're a fan of the franchise.
As for what's ahead, a post on NeoGAF notes that each mini-game will be 'based on successful mobile game play' and will be endless in scope.
LittleBigPlanet's mini-game will be a kart racer, for example, but we have no ideas what the inFamous or Gravity Rush levels will entail - or when they'll arrive.
We'll keep you updated on this spin-off series and its US availability as soon as we know more.
