Pixel Starships 2, an upcoming sequel to the popular MMORPG, smashes its Kickstarter goal in 24 hours

SavySoda, the team behind Pixel Starships, recently launched a Kickstarter campaign to fund a sequel, which is unsurprisingly called Pixel Starships 2. The project's goal was $25,000, a target that was shattered within 24 hours and now stands at $65,000.

If you're unfamiliar with the original, it's a spaceship management MMORPG that enjoyed plenty of success, boasting over 10 million players. Naturally, Pixel Starships 2 looks to build on its predecessor with improved graphics, more in-depth strategy, and new ways to interact with other captains.

But the rest remains familiar. You take on the role of a starship captain and make strategic use of your crew by utilising their skills and personalities to bring the best out of them. With them, you will explore the universe, work on your ship and fight other players in PvP.

Whatever you decide to focus on, resource management will play a big role, and your starships need regular maintenance to allow you to achieve your goals. You can team up with other players in alliances to try and make things a little easier. No one wants to face the vastness of space alone, after all.

The Kickstarter campaign is currently underway, and if you choose to back the project, you can get the following:

  • Alpha and beta access.
  • Your name featured in the credits.
  • Exclusive in-game items, including custom character skins, weapons and battleships.
  • Owning an in-game planet or station.

Pixel Starships 2's Kickstarter campaign is underway and has already smashed its initial target of $25,000. The game is targeting a mobile and PC release sometime in 2024. There are no App Store or Google Play links just yet, but you can Wishlist it on Steam. To stay up-to-date with the latest developments, you can follow SavySoda on Twitter, Instagram and Facebook.
