Oniri Islands is a charming, two-player augmented reality adventure, coming to iOS and Android tablets

It's not the first time we've seen physical/digital toys in play, but Oniri Islands looks to be an interesting addition to the world of augmented reality.
Oniri Islands is a cooperative, two-player adventure game in which you embody two children, Mina and Tim, lost on a mysterious island as they search for their shadows. Very Peter Pan-style. Mina and Tim are actually physical figures which connect to the screen like amiibos, letting you bring the adventure to life.
There are five animal masks for your characters to don, each which gives you its own unique, magical power, and the cooperative play apparently makes it feel like a bit like a board game.
So far the game is slated for release at the end of 2017 and its Kickstarter is due to go live next week, on March 16th. As it's a mixture of physical and digital devices, Oniri Islands has a slightly more expensive price tag of £35/$35.
