What was it magazine
Nintendo Power said a week or so back (and we reproduced
here)? Ah yes, it was that
Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars on DS will feature 'tasteful' mini-games.
Well, that - it would appear - depends on your definition of tasteful, because the latest issue of
Edge has revealed the game will include a full-on drug-dealing mini-game which lets players deal heroine, cocaine, weed, ecstasy, acid and downers to punters,
reports CVG.co.uk.
Selling the various drugs will apparently make you cash to spend in the game and up your experience of market conditions.
"We wanted to have a drug-dealing mini-game in lots of the
GTA games," Rockstar VP Dan Houser told
Edge. "We played with it a little in
Vice City Stories, because it worked really well juxtaposed with the main story.
"It works well with what
GTA is, with driving around the map, and it gives you another thing to think about - another layer or piece of the puzzle to keep you motivated... It does intersect with the main story and things you learn from it work with the story, but it mostly runs on its own."
Anyone worried then that Rockstar was about to tone things down for its entry onto DS can sleep easy - it looks like we can expect the full on 'adult' experience.
Combining the arguably 'kiddish' and family orientated DS though with a game featuring heroin-dealing could be an even quicker route to an outraged
Mail on Sunday front page than a goat's head at a
God of War party.
Let the controversy begin.
