There shouldn't be a person in the world blind to the Syrian refugee crisis, but even if you are developers, The Pixel Hunt and Figs, have created an emotive and eye-opening game inspired by real events.

Bury Me, My Love is an instant messaging adventure which follows the story of Syrian refugee Nour and her husband Majd as Nour takes on a difficult and perilous journey to safety.

"The title of the story-driven interactive fiction comes from the Syrian goodbye phrase that roughly means 'Take care, and don’t even think about dying before I do.'" This takes on an even deeper meaning as the couple are split up and Majd has to stay behind, only able to contact his wife via their smartphones.

Your choices throughout the story help Nour overcome the difficulties she encounters on her journey, and ultimately result in one of many endings. Our own Harry Slater got to try the game out at Gamescom this year and absolutely fell in love with it, saying "Because this is a game about love. It's a game about sacrifice and heartache. But it has light moments too. I laughed three or four times throughout the half hour I was poking my way through the demo."

Bury Me, My Love arrives on iOS and Android on October 26th and will be a premium title.
