Samsung is not having a good week…or couple of months as their latest smartphone is causing them, and us, more than a few headaches. However it looks like Oculus has made a tough call today as they've withdrawn Gear VR support for the Note7.

A message on Oculus' official website earlier stated: "Oculus is removing support for all Note7 devices on the Oculus platform. Until further notice, Note7 devices will not be compatible with the Gear VR." Clearly the fear which has probably run through our minds has finally hit the top dogs at Oculus. After all, a Note7 catching fire/exploding right next to someone's eyes is a mildly bigger deal than it catching fire in someone's pocket.

Some people will grumble but I don't blame them at all. Having gotten a Gear VR for the Note7, I'd be lying if I said I'd been using it frequently since this all kicked off in September. I rather like my eyeballs intact and working, thank you.

Of course, the likelihood of an incident like that happening is slim to none, but clearly Oculus thought the potential of such an incident was enough.
