Gotta convert them all

Deity Quest takes Pokemon's RPG formula, changes some names around, and adds a story about deities trying to become gods.

The comparison isn't amiss. Deity Quest even starts out by giving you a snotty rival to compete with, just before asking you to choose your first "follower".

In this case, followers are creatures that'll fight for you. I went for a mighty, fire-breathing dragon, which is more of a Charizard than a Charmander.

You need to get as many followers as possible in order to become an Overgod, you see. You're a freshly graduated deity who is sent to Aberos in order to command and conquer it as a god.

Yep, that means you'll have to do some fighting. You can have up to six followers battling at one time. Luckily, they'll fight for themselves. All you have to do is throw in items to assist them, and tell them to attack, defend, or flee.

When they level up, you become a more powerful god. Well, that's one way of playing it anyway. You get to choose to be good, neutral, or evil at the beginning. How power is distributed between you and your followers depends on your alignment.

So, if you do like the Pokemon RPGs then you're probably going to like Deity Quest as well. You don't have to purchase the game for £2.96 / $4.99 to find out if you like it, either.

There's a free demo that contains the first part of Deity Quest on Google Play [download]. Give it a go, and then buy the full version if it takes your fancy.

More information on Deity Quest can be found on its official website.
