Here's what Earthworm Jim designer's graphic novel racer SXPD will look like
Currently out in Canada
A few days ago, we caught wind of SXPD - an intriguing title by Earthworm Jim designer David Perry.
While it might look like a digital comic book at first blush, SXPD offers more than just pretty panels to read through.
Hidden in its digital pages are action-heavy racing sequences inspired by the ZX Spectrum classic 3D Deathchase.
Now that SXPD's soft launched in Canada, we've got some footage of how it'll play. And while we admit it's looking pretty slick, we're stubbornly standing by our earlier comparison to A-Ha's "Take on Me".
SXPD is set in the (fictional) privately owned, 52nd state of America - New Royale - and puts players in the role of the latest member of an all-female police department dedicated to keeping the peace.
If the artwork in the above video caught your eye, that's probably because it was done by famous DC comic book artist Duke Mighten.
Happily, SXPD features a full 42-page digital comic book on top of its action-heavy racing sequences - so you'll have plenty to read and play through when it launches globally in May.
