Everything's better with booty

Out at midnight - Age of Booty: Tactics lets you sail the seven seas, keelhaul things

The creators of the Xbox Live Arcade cult classic Age of Booty are ready to unleash another ribald pirate tale on the unsuspecting world.

Age of Booty: Tactics has just run up its colours in the New Zealand App Store, which means it'll chart a course for the rest of the world soon.

The free-to-play nautical tactics romp has a firm focus on both humour and strategy and challenges players to build an amazing armada out of a dizzying selection of captains, ships, and curses.

Better yet, Age of Booty: Tactics gives you two separate options for its turn-based multiplayer - you can either go the traditional asynchronous way and submit a turn and want for your opponent to make their move, or you can play with a local friend on a shared device using a pass-and-play interface.

Victory in combat earns you a pile of booty and, perhaps, a swig of rum... if you have rum on hand and are of legal drinking age, of course.

The booty's used to upgrade your fleet, as you might expect while the rum, well, that's just for fun.

The team behind Age of Booty: Tactics also co-developed several Call of Duty and Halo titles, incidentally, so you can expect a polished product from this piratical plunder fest.
