Will you heed the call of duty and download Call of Duty: Strike Team for iOS?

Well, this sneaked up on us like a grunty army soldier in the undergrowth with his chiselled jaw daubed in war paint and a ruddy big combat knife clasped between his teeth.

There's a new Call of Duty game out, you see. And it's been built from the ground up by Activision for smartphones and tablets.

It's called Call of Duty: Strike Team, and it's sitting in the App Store right now waiting for you to throw money at it.

Call of Duty: Strike Team features both third-person and first-person viewpoints, and is set in 2020. In the game, you lead the Joint Special Operations Team on a global campaign to bring an unknown enemy to justice.

I'm just speculating here, but I bet the kind of justice you bring to them involves repeatedly shooting them in the face. I could be wrong, though.

There's a campaign mode in which you follow the story. And there's an endless horde-style mode that's all about keeping your soldiers alive for as long as possible.

The big twist is that you can swap between perspectives as you play. So, you can use the third-person view to co-ordinate a squad attack, then jump back into the eyeholes of your own Colonel Shootypants and lead the assault from the front.

Call of Duty: Strike Team is out now on the App Store, and will set you back £4.99 / $6.99. Keep your eyes peeled for a full review on the site soon.
