Out There looks vaguely like the FTL: Faster Than Light mobile game for which we've been longing. It's quite a different beast, though.

Rather than being chased by an enemy fleet, then, you play a lone astronaut in Out There tasked with desperately searching for and maintaining resources from the planets that you discover.

Mi-Clos Studio generates the game's mysterious atmosphere through tense comic book-style visuals. On the subject of atmosphere, Siddhartha Barnhoorn (of Antichamber fame) recently joined the team to oversee sound design.

In the game itself, you'll be sending out probes to keep your on-board energy and oxygen supply levels high. Oh, and to repair materials.

By exploring more exotic planets, you will also get the chance to drill through the surface or perhaps meet aliens.

As sourcing and managing all of the required resources you need for your trip across space is quite challenging, you're expected to die a lot in Out There.

As you get better and progress further, though, you'll find ancient powers to siphon. Furthermore, you'll unlock more content with successive replays.

You can expect Out There to swoop onto Android and iOS devices this autumn.
