Ah, the olden times. When portable computers needed trucks and touching screens just left them with greasy smears.

The early period of home computing was a time of homages and inspiration, when anyone with a PC could, and inevitably did, make games.

And now Elite is set to give you a taste of those heady days of fan-made sequels with the release of Willy's Great Adventure: ZX Spectrum, Terry Lloyd's never-before-seen variation on Manic Miner and Jet Set Willy.

This is a game that's been sat around doing nothing for 28 years, untouched on a hard drive until Lloyd emailed Elite last year to see if the UK studio fancied releasing it.

According to Lloyd, "it's one of the most complete and totally customized mods out there, with new sprites, tiles, and rooms."

Depending on how old you are, that may or may not make you a bit weak at the knees.

And, no, this isn't the Elite project we mentioned back in April. Though the original creator of Manic Miner, Matthew Smith, has given his blessing to the newly announced port.

So, if you fancy a retro-tastic blast from the past, download Willy's Great Adventure: ZX Spectrum right now on iOS [buy], Android [buy], and Kindle. The Android version should be live in a matter of minutes, by the way.
