Promising tower defence follow-up Plants vs Zombies 2 will be free-to-play

Good news, folks: PopCap's eagerly awaited sequel to Gold Award-winning tower defence title Plants vs Zombies will be available to download exclusively (initially) from the App Store on July 18th.

As you've probably already guessed, your aim in Plants vs Zombies 2: It's About Time is to - once again - repel the advances of waves of brain-seeking zombies using your very own horticultural army.

Zombies may come in a wide variety of shapes and sizes, and possess all manner of unique abilities, but so do your fighting flowers. Some flowers fire projectiles, while others act as defensive walls or makeshift explosives.

According to Eurogamer, Plants vs Zombies 2: It's About Time will be free-to-play. So, you'll be able to download it for free from the App Store, but you'll have to put your hand in your pocket for certain upgrades and special in-game items.

What do you think of that?
