It looks like Cut the Rope developer ZeptoLab is working on some kind of tie-in with Peter Jackson's current box office smash The Hobbit.

As you probably already know, Cut the Rope is a physics-puzzler which involves feeding candy to an adorable green monster called Om Nom.

But, what do candy and ropes have to do with hobbits and magical rings?

Well, just take a look at the picture the Russian developer posted late last night on its Cut the Rope Twitter feed (below).

If we're not mistaken, Om Nom is now rocking a distinctly Baggins-esque hairdo, and has stumbled across Tolkien's infamous One Ring.

He's even brandishing Sting, the elegant elvish blade which Bilbo Baggins found during an encounter with some particularly hungry trolls.

Does this mean that Cut the Rope: The Hobbit (or, indeed, Cut the Rope: The Lord of the Rings) is just around the corner?

According to the text that accompanies the tweeted image, ZeptoLab will be giving us some more information later today.

Could the One Ring soon be dangling from a rope, waiting to be dropped into the mouth of a cosplaying Om Nom?

We'll let you know when we have more, precious.
