Galcon 2: Galactic Conquest is fully funded on Kickstarter
To infinity and the bank
Phil Hassey can rest easy tonight. The Galcon 2: Galactic Conquest Kickstarter campaign that he launched last month has been a success, with more than 713 backers pledging over $23,499.
For those of you who aren't familiar with Galcon 2: Galactic Conquest, it's the "official" sequel to popular multiplayer real-time strategy title Galcon, which was first released in 1995 and subsequently ported to the iPhone in 2008.
In that one, your aim was to defeat foes by storming planets with swarms of powerful ships.
This sequel will be free-to-play, so it will feature an in-game store from which you can purchase cosmetic upgrades and other helpful items.
Hassey is hoping that the freemium approach will attract more players to the game, but is keen to point out that he'll be working with the Galcon community to ensure that the game's balance isn't affected.
Galcon 2: Galactic Conquest will blast onto Mac and PC before making its way to iOS and "high-end" Android-powered devices.
