Android port of point-and-click puzzler Touch Detective suffers serious launch issues

Android users have a fresh opportunity to flex their puzzle-solving pinkies, courtesy of new point-and-click adventure Touch Detective.

Or at least they would... if they could get it working.

In this slightly surreal detective tale, you step into the gumshoes of first-time investigator Mackenzie and her mushroom sidekick Funghi.

You must help this pair of wannabe Poirots scour the town for clues and talk to the curious locals in the hope of unravelling a number of mysteries.

Unfortunately, one of Touch Detective's biggest mysteries surrounds the game's installation process.

Many users (including yours truly) are having difficulty downloading the APK file, while others (also including yours truly) find the game locks up upon activation.

Just to be thorough, we tested Touch Detective on a Galaxy S II AND a Nexus 7. The game failed to load on both devices.

The game's developer, Beeworks Games, is aware of the issue, and has posted some advice on Touch Detective's Google Play listing for users who are suffering from installation problems (though none of the advice worked for us).

Luckily, Touch Detective is free to download, so if you're really keen to give the game a whirl, you can have a bash at booting it up without worrying about performance-related refunds.

After that, it'll be $4 each for Touch Detective's remaining three chapters, or $9 for the bundle. We'd love to confirm the UK prices, but a big black screen is preventing us from peeping at the digits.
