As you probably know, the PS Vita's firmware was recently updated. Among other things, the update included PlayStation Plus support for Sony's newest handheld console.

Anyway, Sony has just announced on its blog the games that will be available to download for free from December 21st.

If you're a PlayStation Plus subscriber, you'll be able to grab NetherRealm Studios's Silver Award-winning Mortal Kombat without having to put your hand in your pocket.

Naturally, all of your favourite characters like Sub-Zero and Scorpion are present and accounted for, but you can also take infamous movie baddie Freddy Krueger and other special characters for a spin.

At review, we said that Mortal Kombat boasts "one of the best single-player experiences in the genre", so it's definitely worth checking out.

Finally, there's Big Sky Infinity, which is a stunning-looking shoot-'em-up from VooFoo Studios and Boss Baddie.

You'll actually be able to download this one from December 12th.

Both Big Sky Infinity and Knytt Underground will be available as part of Sony's Cross-Buy initiative. This means you'll be able to play them on your TV via your PS3 at no extra charge.
