Controversial 90s shooter Shadow Warrior is getting ported to iOS this year, thanks to 3D Realms and Russian developer General Arcade.

The game was originally built with the same engine as Duke Nukem 3D, and also featured bawdy, tongue-in-cheek humour. It certainly turned heads on release, as the jokes often blurred the line between parody and straight-up racist stereotyping.

You play as Lo Wang, in a fight against the mystical CEO of the Zilla Enterprises conglomerate. You'll tour Japan, kill demons, wield loads of weapons, and solve puzzles.

"We know how important game controls [are] for mobile games, especially for hardcore game like Shadow Warrior," says General Arcade. "So [we] spent a lot of time to make really good game controls and it has dozens of configuration options."

The universal app will work on iPhone 4 and up, and iPad 2 and up. It will hit the App Store before the year is out.
