Retro music RPG Arranger is coming to the App Store this week
Music, mini-games, and haunted clarinets
Back in the spring, we posted about a new retro roleplaying game called Arranger that looked extremely promising.
And by 'extremely promising', we really mean 'positively pixelated' in all the right ways.
We've recently learned that the Zelda-style fantasy RPG will arrive on the App Store this Thursday for the price of 99c / 69p.
Although Arranger is reminiscent of early 1980s adventure games like King's Quest and has a focus on traditional RPG-based questing and exploration, it also has plenty of mini-games to offer with Gamecenter support available at launch.
Don't forget the musicBecause Arranger is a music game at its core, it boasts an impressive soundtrack with genres ranging between funk, pop, hip-hop, and lullaby with stops in between.
The impressive soundtrack of Arranger is to be expected, as the game's designer is none other than musician Arman Bohn, a former bandmate of several Death Cab for Cutie members.
In Arranger, players must find and collect 16 different instruments to use in their fights against bosses and baddies. With over 5,000 musical combat configurations available, Arranger certainly isn't hurting for variety when it comes to battles.
Arranger is published by Ayopa Games, and its soundtrack will be available separately in the weeks ahead. There is no word on the Android version of Arranger mentioned by Bohn in our interview with him.
