Tomb Raider: Anniversary coming to mobile

Lara to go everywhere with you from December

Tomb Raider: Anniversary coming to mobile

Eidos has confirmed Tomb Raider: Anniversary, a celebratory release marking the ten (well, 11, if we're being picky) years since Lara Croft's first arrival on the video gaming scene, is also due for mobile.

Previously released on PSP (and home consoles) to critical acclaim, the mobile version will differ in that it's based on the three Tomb Raider mobile phone games to date – The Osiris Codex, Legend, and Puzzle Paradox – rather than the original 1996 console iteration. Which kind of makes sense. As such, it aims to preserve some of the elements featured in those titles.

"We wanted to take the very best bits of the original trilogy and deliver a new and improved version, whilst still retaining that familiar blend of puzzles, exploration and action that the series is famous for," said Simon Protheroe, new media and IT director at Eidos, after packing away his grappling hook.

"With completely revamped graphics, the Peruvian sections of the mobile game are now more akin to the latest console version of Anniversary, so mobile gamers are in for a treat."

Available this December, the game promises 15 levels of action and four game modes (on selected handsets), with Tomb Raider regulars such as spike traps, walls of flame, devious puzzles and deadly foes making an appearance. We'll bring you more in due course.
