Ah, Temple Run - that fast-paced bringer of immediate portable thrills. What the game evidently needs is a boardgame spin-off.

Huh? Oh, right... no, it doesn't. But, it's received one, anyway.

Following in the footsteps of trailblazing smartphone money spinner Angry Birds, Temple Run is branching out into new and lucrative areas.

"Can't get enough Temple Run? Get the board game!" a recent posting on the Temple Run Facebook page reads. It seems developer Imangi has teamed up with Spin Master Games to create Temple Run Danger Chase.

The suspense is killing me

So, what exactly will you be dragging out of the cupboard come the next rainy family holiday?

"Relive the suspense by challenging your friends to outrun the Evil Demon Monkeys. Do you have what it takes to survive the chase?" the blurb reads. Nope, we're none the wiser.

Going by the box art, there's an electronic idol involved somewhere. Will you have to pay for extra playing pieces, though?

You'll be able to find out from October 1st when Temple Run Danger Chase hits retail.
