Sega is bringing 3DS gem Rhythm Thief to iOS as a freemium game

Sega has let slip that it will be bringing a Rhythm Thief game to iOS sometime this winter.

If you scoured the publisher's Tokyo Game Show 2012 website, you might have noticed a little something called 'Rhythm Kaitou R' among the list of iOS games.

That's the Japanese name for 3DS game Rhythm Thief and the Emperor's Treasure.

Under price, Sega has put "Free basic (charged items)", which suggests that the game will be freemium. In the description, it suggests that the game will be tweaked for shorter play sessions, and will include a social element.

Rhythm is a dancer

If you haven't played the 3DS version of Rhythm Thief and the Emperor's Treasure, it's a collection of rhythm-based mini-games, where you tap the screen to dance, stealthily avoid detection, or beat up killer robots.

Between bouts, you'll explore Paris on the hunt for hero Raphael's missing dad.

According to Sega, the included screenshots (below) are not entirely indicative of the final game because it's "currently in development". They also look like 3DS screenshots given they include a picture of a stylus.

We should find out much more about this game later this month.
