Ticket to Ride receives massive update, first new map pack in nearly 7 years

Days of Wonder has updated the iPad version of its excellent strategy board game Ticket to Ride (a Pocket Gamer Gold awardee) with a massive content package brimming with new goodies.

Chief among the new additions is the release of the Legendary Asia map pack, which is the first new digital map pack created for Ticket to Ride in close on seven years.

The new pack features a suitably new AI bot (Kwaibot) to challenge players, as well as taxing Mountain Routes to factor into rail-based expansion strategies.

In addition, the Legendary Asia map pack will bring two new map-specific markers to the game: the Mongolian Horse and the Blinking Cities. The Legendary Asia pack is available as an in-app purchase and costs £2.49 / $3.99.

Yet the latest update is not limited to the release of the Legendary Asia in-app purchase.

In the 1.4 update, Days of Wonder also introduces new AI opponents for Europe and Switzerland along with 45 (yes, 45!) new exciting achievements for players to accrue.

As the final bit of icing on the sweet update cake, Days of Wonder also included full retina support for the New iPad across the entire Ticket to Ride game.

Previously, the retina support was limited to the in-game maps only.
