Daniel Kaplan, business developer at Mojang, has revealed that the next update for Minecraft - Pocket Edition has been submitted to Apple for approval. It should hit iPhone and iPad within about tan days.

The mobile edition of indie phenomenon Minecraft is a cut-down version of the PC original, and is missing some key features and items from the six-million-selling game. Mojang has slowly been adding those features in updates.

The last big overhaul - version 0.3 - added crafting, damageable items, cows, and chickens.

Mojang has kept quiet about the upcoming update, but we have managed to find a few sneaky hints in Kaplan's tweets. In May, he talked about the user interface for the furnace object, which suggests that the update will add smelting (a way to cook food and get minerals from ore).

When a player asked Kaplan if Creepers - the iconic, self-destructing nightmare bad guys of Minecraft lore - would be in the next Pocket Edition update, Kaplan replied, "mmmmmaybe ;)".

While Android apps can be updated without any approval time, Mojang likes to wait until the update is available on iPhone and iPad before submitting the Android patch. That way, it's fair for everyone.
