This Friday, US-based developer Playdek will slash the price of its iPhone and iPad card battler Nightfall to just 69p / 99c for a limited time.

Before you ask why, it's to celebrate the impending arrival of the title's first expansion pack, Nightfall: Martial Law, which will be available in mid-August.

"Nightfall has done very well and we're pleased to have an expansion already available," Joel Goodman, Playdek's CEO, said. "By lowering the price of the original game, we are hoping it will inspire new players to download and dive into playing."

Once it's available, you'll be able to download the add-on through an in-app purchase, and gain access to new characters, actions, and new colour combinations that will allow you to create chains and nab kickers.

Nightfall: Martial Law will also introduce an all-new gameplay mechanic called Feed, which gives you "more uses out of your orders". The expansion will also introduce a new effect called Wound, which is said to surprise your opponents.

Nightfall is available right now on the App Store as a Universal app for £2.99 / $4.99. I'd recommend waiting for the sale, though.
