Rumour: Apple CEO Tim Cook spotted at the headquarters of Half-Life and Portal developer Valve
What could it mean?
Apple's CEO Tim Cook has reportedly been spotted at the Washington headquarters of Half-Life developer Valve.
Naturally, Apple's chief executive could have been meeting with the company behind physics-puzzler Portal for any number of reasons.
On the one hand, Cook may have visited Valve's HQ to discuss its digital distribution platform and social gaming network Steam, which recently landed on iOS in the form of an app that allows you to browse your friends and complete other similar tasks.
It's possible that Apple could be looking to incorporate elements of Steam into iOS, since the platform features a bunch of social functionality and achievements.
On the other hand, Valve also supports Mac users in Steam, so the chances are that the visit related to increasing support for the Cupertino company's notebooks and desktops. Especially given Apple is expected to roll out new Ivy Bridge-based MacBooks imminently.
On the third (?) hand, Valve's managing director Gabe Newell could have simply owed Cook a fiver. Hey, you never know.
