PSXPeria Project allows you to convert PlayStation discs into Xperia Play game files

If you're frustrated by the glacial pace at which Sony seems to be bringing PlayStation classics to the Xperia Play, you're not alone.

But, while most of us do little more than tut and moan, some clever chaps over on the XDA developers forums have decided to actually do something about it.

The result is PSXPeria, a piece of software developed by senior XDA forumites 'fma965' and 'Masters 2150' that allows you to convert disc images of PlayStation games into files which are playable on the Xperia Play.

The possibilities!

So, that dusty stack of PSone games need not languish in the cupboard any more. Get them out, create some ISO images, run the PSXPeria program, and you'll soon be tackling Tenchu on the bus.

What's more, this is one of the easiest bits of Android tinkering to carry out we've ever seen. You don't need root access to your phone, and there's a video tutorial - which we've embedded below - to walk you through the entire process.

If you're keen to get cracking, simply install the Java runtime environment, and then check out the project's XDA developers forums thread and GitHub page for more information - including a list of the PSone titles so far confirmed as compatible.
