Anyone with a soft spot for Lucasarts-style point-and-click adventures should already be familiar with Machinarium.

Created by Czech developer Amanita Design, this exquisitely rendered tale of a robot searching for his partner in a sepia tinged city of rusted pipes and antagonistic automatons was as beautiful as it was beguiling.

Originally written for the PC, its translation to the iPad 2 received numerous critical plaudits, including a Pocket Gamer Gold Award.

Tin man

If there are any iPad 2 owners who have yet to step into the wonderful world of Machinarium, Amanita Design is currently offering 60 per cent off the game’s original price tag.

This means that, provided you act before January 9th, you can pick up this magnetic marvel for the laughably low price of £1.49 / $1.99 by hitting the button below.

Unfortunately, Machinarium will only run on the iPad 2, so don't try downloading if you're packing Apple's original tablet PC.
