EA's Q4 2011 earnings conference call is currently coming to a close, and eavesdropping members of the Twitterverse are reporting that Battlefield 3 and Mass Effect 3 will be getting handheld versions.

Journalist Ron Taylor writes, “Both Battlefield 3 and Mass Effect 3 are recieving some sort of handheld version,” while fellow journalist Johnny Cullen expands on this with a bit of harmless speculation: “Reckon its iOS than 3DS, PSP or NGP.”

That's it.

In support of Cullen's speculation is the fact that technically impressive versions of both Dead Space and Battlefield: Bad Company 2 have hit the App Store in recent months, while neither came to PSP or DS.

A Mass Effect spin-off called Mass Effect Galaxy came to iPhone a couple of years ago. But we don't talk about that.

A report accompanying the call revealed that EA held 15 of the top 25 places on the App Store Paid chart over the Easter weekend, thanks no doubt to a tactical fire sale.

Revenue from iOS devices increased by more than 100 per cent in the fourth quarter compared to the same period in 2010.
