Capcom has issued an update for its iOS freemium title Smurfs Village', expanding the game's world with a cliff area. A mining mini-game is also thrown in, and the Smurfs' AI has been tweaked so that they prefer paths and avoid obstacles.

Some new items, such as stone walls, are also available to buy in-game. On which subject, no changes have been made to the way in-app purchases work. If you aren’t familiar with the controversy surrounding Smurfs' Village, it arose following reports of children buying Smurfberries in great numbers thanks to the fact that iTunes doesn't require you to enter your password more than once every 15 minutes. Capcom addresses the issue in the description page for Smurfs' Village: "iOS will keep you logged on for 15 minutes after you download the app. Additional purchases won’t require a re-entry of the password during this 15 minute interval. This is a function of the iOS software and not within our control." Read our useful guide on how to halt in-app purchases on iOS titles here.
