MWC 2011: Real-time multiplayer may be coming to Windows Phone 7

Microsoft has told Pocket Gamer that it has plans to bring more “functionality” to multiplayer gaming on the Windows Phone 7 platform, heavily suggesting (but stopping short of declaring outright) that we should see real-time gaming make its way to the system in the future.

When we asked why it's taken so long to see full multiplayer on the system, the company told us that it wanted to “make sure it was a good experience”, which wasn't possible before the first devices launched last October.

The news follows reports that the upcoming cross-platform Full House Poker will be the first WP7 title to utilise the virtual Xbox Live avatar as a practical feature, rather than merely home-screen decoration.
