Former trademark troll, video game bogeyman, and general nuisance Tim Langdell has suffered yet another blow to his ego, in what is shaping up to be the worst month of his life.

The litigious industry villain, who sued and threatened any game developer, publisher or publication that used his trademark word ‘Edge’, was stripped of his beloved four letter word earlier this month, following a request to the court by EA. Langdell was then forced to announce his judicial defeat to all licensees.

Now, he’s had his IGDA membership revoked after the Game Developers Association picked out a handy bylaw in its list of rules. Under Article III. Section 6 (b), the association says “any member may be removed from membership if the member has demonstrated a lack of integrity or unethical behaviour.”

Lying to the patent office and using your ill-gotten gains to trouble tiny, independent developers, pretty much defines “unethical behaviour”.

Langdell was previously on the IGDA’s board of directors. He resigned in August 2009, just before a meeting was held to discuss booting him from the board.

He said that he was confident that he’d have been kept on, but said he was stepping down to save the association from bad press.
