Com2uS hits a homerun with the MLBPA licensed 9 innings: Pro Baseball 2011

To be completely honest, my enjoyment of baseball games has never got further than Com2uS' excellent but completely arcadey Homerun Battle 3D.

For those with passion for the sport and its myriad of stats however, the Korean publisher has come out with its annual update of something much more heavyduty.

On the mound

Created in association with the Major League Baseball Players Association, 9 innings: Pro Baseball 2011 is a game that features the 30 Major League teams and 780 player profiles.

As you'd expect there are modes offering everything from taking a team through a complete season to the quicker Exhibition, and Homerun Derby options.

Using a 2D cartoon graphics style, you're able to take control of pitching, batting, and fielding, as well as performing team manager tasks such as varying your line up, and rotating and training players.

MVP

In terms of those players, the game uses a card-based system, so you can also head into the card shop to customise your team, collect new cards and use the extensive in-app purchase system to level up cards, buy cheerleaders and generally improve your chances of World Series glory.

Due to licensing issues, 9 innings: Pro Baseball 2011 is currently only available on the US and Canadian App Stores, although it's expected to go global soon. It costs $4.99.

You can get an idea what it's all about in the following video.
