Adult Swim spells out its intentions with Word Runner on iPhone

Adult Swim’s bizarre combination of Tron and Scrabble has made its way to the App Store. In Word Runner, you pilot a somewhat creepy female finger (replete with painted nail) through a Lightbike-esque landscape of letters.

In Challenge mode, avoid the letters you don’t want, and hit the ones you do, to ensure that you spell the words on the list (taken from categories such as: Pizza Toppings, Video Games, Mythical Beasts, and Soups) before the time limit expires.

Free play mode lets you attempt to spell as many words as you can within that time limit. Brilliantly, you can add your own words to the game’s dictionary to ensure that you're never unfairly robbed of points.

However, we would imagine this feature will simply be used to add naughty words.

There's further information, and an amusing explanatory video, on Adult Swim’s website.

Wordrunner is available from the App Store now, priced at £1.19 / $1.99 / €1.59.
