Forget your Guitar Heroes and your Rock Bands - there's a new musical set-up in town, and it's landing on Nintendo DS this week.

Jam With the Band is more Wii Music than guitar shredding, supplying players with over 50 tunes to strum, drum and sing along to.

Like your own music studio in the palm of your hand, the touchscreen and DS microphone are implemented to judge your musical abilities.

The game will even test your singing talents, recording your heavenly voice and analysing it, letting you know which genre of music you're best suited for.

The pre-installed music includes a few old skool gaming favourites, with both Mario Kart and Legend of Zelda medleys on offer.

More songs will also be available to download free of charge via the Nintendo wi-fi service after launch.

Once you've written your own symphony, there's a free Jam With the Band channel for Wii, so you and your friends can listen to your beautiful melodies through your TV.

If you enjoyed Wii Music or have a thing for old skool game music, this will most likely be your cup of tea.

Jam With the Band is available from 21st May on Nintendo DS.
